Precious Chikwendu has spoken about the joy of motherhood and her love affair with the former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode.
In a recent interview granted to City People, Chikwendu has revealed that they met in Owerri at a friend’s house, and they have been together for almost two years.
According to a 27-year-old Chikwendu, the basics of every successful relationship is friendship, therefore, they do everything together including making decisions and silly arguments.
Describing her relationship with Fani-Kayode, she said:
“Wonderful… It’s been fun, full of laughter and suprises. He came into my life when I thought I’d given up on relationships. It took some time for him to convince me that this was real because I just wasn’t sure I was ready.”
When asked what she likes about the father of her child, Chikwendu said: “I like his openness and bravery. He speaks his mind regardless of whose ox is gored.
I love that he is very compassionate, passionate and very fair to everyone.” “He could be strong willed and stubborn sometimes and when he decides on something, it’s often difficult to change his mind, but I always find a way,” she added.
Chikwendu further noted that although she and her husband are both public figures, they get along with each other.
“I’m also a publuc figure by virtue of my being an actress, beauty queen and a pagaent director. I’ve always been skeptical about politicians but I’ve learnt alot from him and now I cope very well,” she said.
I love his openess and bravery. He speaks his mind regardless of whose ox is gored. I love that he is very compassionate, passionate and very fair to everyone.
He could be strong willed and stubborn . When he decides on something it’s often difficult to change his mind. But I always find a way. He also doesn’t like stock fish(okporoko).
My Joy knows no bound. I look at his face and I’m at a loss for words. He is special and precious to us.
Tell us your background
I was born in Awka, Anambra state 27years ago,my father hails from nanka in anambra state and my mother from umuahia in Abia State. I am very proud of my Igbo heritage but I’m even prouder of being a Nigerian I am a Pentecostal Christian. Although I was raised in Assemblies of God Church, I am a member of Winners Chapel .
Was raised in Makurdi, Benue State by my parents and I went to school there up until the time I went to the University of calabar where I studied Environmental EDUCATION(forestry and wild life conservation).
Whilst I was in the university I went into part time modelling and I enjoyed it emensely. I made quite a success of it and I was amazed at the fact that my adverts appeared on television, billboards and postals all over the country . So at a relatively young age I was already a public figure.
I stopped modelling as I was approaching my finals in the university and after that , I graduated in 2009.
After I graduated from the university I went into the corporate world and worked as the commercial manager at Star Advantage Company which is a construction company based in calabar. At the same time I was doing alot of part time acting which had always been my passion. I had always loved the arts and I’m very widely read so acting came naturally to me. I had the privilege of playing a role in a number of nolly wood productions including “Love struck” and “Thy will be done” both produced by one of the best producers in nolly wood who lives in London whose name is Obi Emelonye; “I come Lagos” by Elvis chucks, “ije Di” an igbo production by Mike Onovo and many others .
In 2014 I was nominated to represent Nigeria at The United Nations international beauty pageant which took place in Kingston, Jamaica.
I was a little reluctant to go because it’s a very competitive pageant and people come from all over the world to represent their various countries including America, Russia, Venezuela, south Africa, Guadeloupe, Trinity and Tobago, Martinique and so many other countries.
I didn’t think that I had a chance at winning given the competition but much to my suprise God was with me like my name goes (Chisom) and I won. From that point my whole world changed. My work as the Miss United Nations World 2014 meant that I had to operate on the international plain and had to support and promote various charities all over the world.
My focus was more on children’s education because I love children so I ensured that I supported the building and refurbishing of various schools and the support of charities that have a special emphasis on children and their needs all over the world.
It was very challenging but it was a great privilege and it was worth it . I also set up my own foundation which is called “Snowhite Pure Heart Foundation” which supports various charities and provides scholarships and materials for children to go to school.
I was also given the franchise of the United Nations Nigeria Pageant to hold the regional competition in Nigeria which produces a representative to represent Nigeria at the international pageant.
We had our first pageant last year at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja and five winners emerged who went on to represent Nigeria at the international pageant in Jamaica and they did very well.
I will go back to running my foundation, organising my annual pageant and acting after I’ve finished weaning our son Lotanna.
