Patience Paul, the 15-year-old teenager who was allegedly abducted and kept in the Sultan’s palace
The Sokoto state police command is to commence investigation into another case of abduction of a teenage girl, Patience Paul, who is being allegedly held in the Sultan’s palace following a directive by the inspector general of police, Solomon Arase.
According to Channels TV, Arase gave the directive in Makurdi, the Benue state capital where he went to attend a peace meeting between Agatu farmers and Fulani herdsmen, following outbreak of hostilities where hundreds of lives were lost and properties worth millions destroyed.
He told journalist that a family member of the victim who resides with his relatives in Sokoto state had written a petition to the police regarding the alleged abduction of the girl.
In the same vein, the Sokoto state government on Thursday, March 3, said it ordered investigation into an alleged abduction and forced marriage of a 15-year-old girl, Patience Paul, in Sokoto state.
A statement by Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s spokesman, Imam Imam, said the governor had ordered the state human rights commission and other agencies to investigate the matter immediately.
The case of Patience Paul comes shortly after the Police successfully rescued and reunited 14-year-old Ese Ururu with her family after months of captivity in the hands of her abductors in Kano State.
Meanwhile, the police service commission has said it will sanction any police officer found culpable of involvement in the abduction of 14-year-old Ese Oruru. This is contained in a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani, the head and chief publicity officer of the commission, in Abuja today.
Ese was taken from her parents and relatives from Yenagoa in August 2015 to Kano and was forced into a forced marriage with Yunusa Dahiru, a customer who frequented her mother’s food shop.
