diabetes type 2
Are you a sweet tooth? Can’t imagine a day without a piece of chocolate or sugar-sweetened drinks? If yes, this article was waiting for you!

The Diabetes Association of Thailand ordered designer Nattakong Jaengsem to create a campaign that will show how eating too much sugar can harm our bodies.

We all know that sweets causes speedy weight gain, bad teeth and skin, but what is even more scary it could trigger type 2 diabetes.

The disorder reduces the body’s ability to regenerate and can lead to unhealing injuries, ulcers, gangrene and as a reslut limb amputations.

The disturbing campaign called “Sweet Kills” shows gruesome pictures of wounds made of chocolate, ice cream, vanilla, and strawberry sweets.

Onset of type 2 diabetes can be delayed or prevented through proper nutrition and regular exercise. Intensive lifestyle measures may reduce the risk by over half.

Evidence for the benefit of dietary changes alone, however, is limited, with some evidence for a diet high in green leafy vegetables and some for limiting the intake of sugary drinks.

Excess body fat is associated with 30% of cases in those of Chinese and Japanese descent, 60-80% of cases in those of European and African descent, and 100% of cases in Pima Indians and Pacific Islander.

The World Health Organisation predicts diabetes will be the seventh leading cause of death by 2030. Last year, it said an estimated 1.5 million deaths were directly caused by diabetes.
