A former Nigerian Ambassador to the U.S., Hamzat Ahmadu (in white) is dead. Mr. Ahmadu, who was also the Walin Sokoto, died at a private hospital in Lagos yesterday at the age of 92.


The deceased served as Personal Secretary to two Nigerian military leaders: Aguiyi Ironsi and Yakubu Gowon. He also served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to United States of America, Germany, France and the former Soviet Union (USSR).

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal described him as a peace-loving and committed family man who gave invaluable contributions to the unity and development of Nigeria.May his soul rest in peace.
