A former Miss World contestant has died at the age of just 22 after losing her battle with cancer. Yumara Lopez represented Nicaragua in the international competition in 2014 when it was held in London.

She had been diagnosed with a grade 2 astrocytoma, cancer of the brain, months earlier.

Since then she had been battling against the invasive disease, but sadly after almost two years, she died yesterday at the Alejandro Davila Bolanos Military Hospital in the Nicaraguan capital of Managua. May her soul rest in peace.
