Skales' manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe has denied stealing from Baseline Music after the label accused her of defrauding them to the tune of N13 Million and got her arrested alongside Skales.

Osagie (as she is popularly known) is well known among the celebrity circle as she has managed Wizkid, Reekado Banks and currently Skales.

In a press statement made available to Saturday Beats, Osagie says that she did not steal from the record label. She described the development as “a case of a rich man trying to use any means necessary to oppress his business partners.”

The statement reads:

“The media has been awash with details of the arrest of Nigerian talent manager Osagie Osarenkhoe and pop star Skales. Whereas the information has been skewed to suit the agenda of Baseline and its owner, Segun Adebutu, the truth has now emerged about what transpired, and how the label harassed and detained the pair for almost 36 hours.

“However in February of this year, following a meeting between Skales team and baseline team, it was established that the label confirmed the absence of relevant structures and managerial staff, causing delays and miscommunication. For over a year, they have been recording and releasing music, shooting videos, pushing PR and seeking engagements without any input – material or financial from Baseline or any of its reps. We were however surprised that in May, 2016, the label suddenly became interested again in financials and engagement details.

“But in respect for a subsisting contract, we agreed to several meetings to discuss issues and agree on a way forward.
It was at one of such meetings on Tuesday May 31, at Parkview Estate in Lagos, that mobile policemen came in and took Osagie Osarenkhoe to Onikan Zone II Police station.”

Osagie denied ever stealing from the record label saying,
“There has never been, and will never be any basis to conclude that I have been dubious or fraudulent in my dealings with the label. What we have done is to keep our work and lives going on, following inaction from them.
“I was made to sign an undertaking that I no longer represent Skales and Aramide, and that a refund will be made to Baseline which is fine by me. My accounts are also being investigated, which is fine. I hope it all passes and we can all move on with our individual lives. I wish Skales and Aramide nothing but the best,” she said.
