Ebonyi governor gives brutalized girl Uzoamaka 7 days ultimatum to return- "Return or be declared wanted"

The Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has given Uzoamaka Chukwu, the girl who was stripped naked and dehumanized, 7 days to return to the state or be declared wanted.

Despite the good fortunes that have smiled on Uzoamaka Chukwu, the 15-year-old orphan girl who was stripped naked, brutalized and dehumanized over allegations of sleeping with men, another twist in the story of the poor girl is playing out as the Ebonyi State Governor, Engineer Dave Umahi, has ordered that she be returned to the state within seven days or he will declare her wanted.

According to Vanguard, Umahi’s reasoning is that Chukwu remains a property of the state and as such, only the state has the capacity to rehabilitate her and give her the right education she needs and not her adopted mother, Rita Nnenna Anoh, who, last week, had announced her adoption of the girl with the promise to sponsor her to the highest level of education.

Umahi, who gave the order on Sunday when he visited the family of the teenager at Umunaga Uburu, said her return would enable state government take full responsibility of her rehabilitation and training.

 He said she must return within seven days or be declared wanted because she remained a property of state.
