The scene of the accident

In a multiple ghastly car crash which occured at Abudu town along Benin-Agbor-Onitsha express road, on Thursday evening, left 53 people burnt to death.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed that 8 vehicles (2 commercial Toyota hummer buses, 1 Dyna truck, 1 tanker carrying petrol, 1 ford bus and 1 Toyota Corrolla) including one motorcycle, were involved in the accident. 

According to eyewitness accounts, some security agents and officials of FRSC watched helplessly as the victims were burnt to death as there was no fire service station at Abudu town, headquarters of Orhiomwon local government area.

The FRSC Edo State Sector Command on Friday morning, revealed that five other persons sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
