Kano State Hisbah Board
The Kano state Hisbah board has arrested 31 young girls for alleged involvement in immoral acts, Premium Times reports.

Briefing journalists on Friday, March 25, in Kano, Sani Tanko, the public relations officer of the board, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended in a hotel during a special operation at Sabon Gari area in Kano metropolis.

“All the 31 arrested suspects were females and mostly teenagers. Our men were able to arrest these girls at Sabon Gari area in Kano at about 3 p.m. on Monday.

“We screened them and immediately released those who were first-time offenders on bail while those who are habitual offenders were referred to the legal department for further legal action,” he said.

Tanko noted that those girls whose parents refused to claim them would be taken to court for prosecution. “We always encourage good deeds and discourage bad ones,” he added.

Appealing to all parents, the officer advised them to give proper upbringing to their children to enable them to become useful members of the society.

A few weeks ago, the Kano state Hisbah board arrested a village head in Danbatta local government area.

Commenting on the arrest, Dr Abba Sufi, the director general of the board, said that the suspect allegedly defiled and infected a 13-year- old girl with HIV virus.
