Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emiefiele. Some say regulators like the CBN are to be blamed for the excessive charges by banks
We observed that a hashtag trending on Twitter – #NoBankingDay is gaining momentum even across other social mediums. The campaign which is currently the number one trending topic on the micro-blogging site is a call to Nigerians to boycott banks today.

Many who have joined the campaign have been reeling out details of how they have been exploited through various charges by the respective banks.

It is not clear if this boycott will also be extended to mobile and internet transactions. Meanwhile, the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) has put the value of transactions recorded through mobile money platform at N40 billion monthly.
