Considering the harsh economic condition many Nigerians are now facing, Ife Ogunfuwa has identified 3 good business one can start with zero capital that can be productive.

1. Ghostwriting for professionals

Professional, most times, look for ways to promote their services but have limited time to create content that will attract new clients.

A business consultant, Mr. Bose Adekunle, says some of them have websites and social media pages but are unable to post content regularly.

According to her, there are two business options available from the challenges these professionals face. One is the opportunity to write articles that can be posted regularly on the websites. The other is the management of the business’ social media pages.

She says, “Accountants, lawyers, medical practitioners, health and safety consultants, and small business owners fall into the category of people who will appreciate the services of a ghostwriter. Many of them are willing to pay someone with good writing skills to engage their online audience and educate their followers.

“To excel in this type of business, you have to choose an area to specialise in. It means that you need to have in-depth knowledge and be aware of emerging trends in the area of practice. If you are committed to it, you can strike a deal with more than five professionals at reasonable rates, and earn a steady monthly income.”

2. Games, music lessons for preschool kids

Adekunle says kids in preschools learn through activities that seem playful. For instance, they can learn more about water and sand when they play with them.

She observes that kids love to sing and dance. Therefore, they can be taught simple instructions and made to identify new objects with songs. They also love listening to stories and learning new words.

According to her, some crèches do not have the funds to engage the services of a full-time tutor but may be willing to pay someone to come in twice a week to take the kids through fun activities that help them to learn new things.

Adekunle says, “On the part of the crèche, it is beneficial because it means it will offer the parents more value-added services aside from the normal feeding, caring and crooning the children to sleep. It is an opportunity for the full-time care givers to take a break and for the school to attract more parents.

“As long as you understand how to communicate with children, you are patient and fun loving, then this is an opportunity for you to earn a steady income from more than five preschools in a week. Just draw up the scheme of work for a term and let your clients know the teaching strategies you intend to use.”

3. Speech writing services

Adekunle observes that many corporate executives, political office holders and philanthropists are often invited to social and corporate gatherings and they will be required to give speeches.

Even though some may be good speech writers, they may not have the time to pen down their thoughts, she adds.

As such, she says they will require the services of a good wordsmith to write inspiring speeches that will communicate their thoughts to their audience.

Adekunle says, “This is an opportunity for people who have excellent communication skills and advanced knowledge of English language to tap into. If you are up to this task, why don’t you create a portfolio of what you have done and what you can do. Approach people who are likely to benefit from what you have to offer and start earning a living.”
