The female sergeant, Obotie Adesuwa, who sold a week-old baby boy brought to her police station, has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, while the baby has been reunited with the mother, Lagos State Police command says.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed Adesuwa’s dismissal on Thursday, said the ex-sergeant would also be arraigned in court on Friday, 20th November, Punch reports
Adesuwa, who was attached to the Akinpelu Police Division in the Oshodi area, was arrested and detained by the X-Squad Section of the command after she allegedly sold the baby in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for an undisclosed amount.
However, the mother of the baby, who is said to be mentally challenged, had returned to the station to demand for her baby and Adesuwa denied ever knowing her, before she eventually confessed to the crime.
