This was disclosed in a statement released on Monday, November 9 and made available by Tunde Dairo, Omoworare’s media aide.
According to Omoworare, President Buhari needs a budgetary allocation to be able to meet up with some of his campaign promises.
He said: “The call by the PDP for an immediate implementation of the N5,000 unemployment palliative by the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government is a call to impunity.
“It is a call to executive recklessness, misappropriation of funds and bad governance. The motion calling for the immediate implementation of the N5,000 unemployment benefit was done in bad faith.”
Omoworare at the last Senate plenary session had proposed a prayer stating that the funds and management of the SURE-P must be accounted for which was eventually passed when Saraki put the question.
Sure-P was introduced in the immediate past government led by former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Omowarare’s motion had come after the Senate went into a rowdy session when the lawmakers of the APC and the PDP disagreed over the payment of 5,000 naira to unemployed Nigerian youths.
A PDP senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Philip Aduda, had last week raised a prayer calling on the Buhari-led Federal Government to fulfill one of its campaign promises of paying N5,000 to unemployed youths monthly nationwide.
The lawmakers screamed a loud ‘NO’ when Godswill Akpabio, the minority leader moved to second the prayer raised by Aduda and when Akpabio made several attempts, the screams only grew louder.
Eventually, the senate president, Bukola Saraki put the question which resulted to a loud ‘aye’ from the PDP senators but a louder “nay” from APC senators which caused the motion to be ruled out.
