Two suspected armed robbers identified as Olalekan Durojaiye, 20, and Femi Kromoga, 27, have been arraigned before a magistrate court in Lagos state after they were caught smashing the head of a two year old baby, Samuel Nwafor on the floor while trying to rob his mother, Mary Nwafor of her bag at Salami bus stop in Shasha area in Lagos recently.
According to a report by PM News, while giving an account of what happened, Mary said she was on her way back from work and was at the bus stop to take a bus to her home when the two robbers who were riding on a motorcycle, stopped in front of her and attempted to forcefully take her bag. She said while she was struggling with one of them, the other one came down and forcefully removed her son from her hand and smashed him on the ground, causing him to bleed. She had to stop struggling for her bag to attend to her baby. Luck however ran out on the robbers when the residents of the area apprehended them before they could escape. They were beaten up and then taken to the Sasha Police state while the victim and her son were rushed to the hospital.
After investigation, the police charged them before a Magistrates’ court for inflicting injury on the little baby and snatching Mary’s bag under the Criminal code. They pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs J. O. E. Adeyemi granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody until they fulfill their bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 11 December, 2015.
