Governor Ambode of Lagos state has admonished young people to channel their gifts towards making the society a better.

Speaking during the  Goal Attainment Made Easy (GAME) conference today December 1, the governor who was represented by the commissioner for youths and social development, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, advised youths not to loose hope but focus on their dreams.

The conference themed: ”Welcome To Tomorrow” was an ecstatic moment for young entrepreneurs and intreprenuers from various walks of life who converged at the Muson Centre, Lagos for the capacity building forum.

Governor Ambode reiterated that his administration is committed to delivering the promises made to the youths during the electioneering campaign.

The conference had in attendance young professionals, business tycoons, officers of the Nigeria Customs, Federal Road Safety Corp and government officials including Hon. Justice Amina Augie, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, among other dignitaries.

Abiola Salami, the convener of the conference admonished young people not to allow their background dictate the future.

”To make tomorrow a reality, never allow your background to put your back in the ground. We are all products of our backgrounds; how our parents groomed us but you can shape the future by your choices. The quality of your lives today determine the quality of your tomorrow,” he said.

Salami, popularly known as Mr. Champ during his speech showed throwback pictures to analyse the humble background of some celebrities like Don Jazzy, Tu Face, Genevieve Nnaji, Samuel Etto, Basket Mouth and former president Goodluck Jonathan who despite their backgrounds ended up being great.

”They were perhaps in worse states than some of you are now but one thing they did was not to allow their background or circumstances dictate their future,’‘ Salami emphasised.

In the same vein, Justice Amina Augie challenged youths to use their talents, business acumen positively and team up with the government to contribute to the progress of the country.

”You are the generation that must put the society where it ought to be. Building Nigeria is like pulling  an elephant out of the mud which cannot be done by one man. We must all join hands together irrespective of tribes to keep the elephant moving,” she said.

The GAME conference is an annual conference for young entrepreneurs and intreprenuers to network and build productive capacity. It is also an avenue for youths to showcase their skills and uniqueness.
