I greet the good people of Nigeria and welcome you all into the New Year. As I salute the courage and resilience of our citizens, I also want to assure you of better days ahead.
To my fellow traditional rulers across the length and breadth of the country, I salute you all and the pray that God will give us all the wisdom to continue to lead our people.
I wish to commend the determination of the Federal Government to secure lives and property, tackle corruption, ensure stable power supply, revamp the educational system, diversify and grow the economy.
I call on the government to keep faith with the Nigerian people and ensure that the 2016 budget is implemented for the common good. I also call on our state governors to work hand in hand with the Federal Government and ensure that their programs are people friendly.
To the different groups who have one grievance or the other, I sue for peace and call for dialogue to ensure a peaceful resolution of their grievance. Too many innocent lives have been lost because of issues that could have and still have the opportunity to settle amicably.
In this new year, let us all do our best for the nation, youth and elder alike. The country belongs to all of us. May we all find space to use our God given talents for the benefit of our motherland.
Let me also use this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to all for their show of love and support when I ascended the throne of my forefathers. I say a big thank you to all; government representatives, traditional rulers, captains of industry and the masses of our people who thronged the ancient city of Ile-Ife to attend my coronation ceremony. May God, in his infinite mercies, bless and reward you for the affection and support you rendered in one form or the other.
Thank you all and may it be well with our nation in this New Year.
