Just found out that US media websites are celebrating former governor Ikedi Ohakim's granddaughter, Kaima Amaha-Okorafor's birth as the first-born baby in Duchess County, New York for 2016.

Ohakim's daughter, Adanma Amaha-Okorafor and husband Dr. Amaha Okorafor's welcomed their child early New Year’s Day at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Kaima Amaha-Okorafor was born naturally at 4:58 a.m. weighing exactly 8 pounds.

Her mother  and father were pleasantly shocked when contractions started on New Year’s Eve, more than a week before their first child’s Jan. 9 due date.
They were on their way to a Japanese restaurant in Poughkeepsie when they made a detour to the hospital’s maternity department and happily discovered their baby girl was on her way.

“This is the best New Year’s gift you can get,” her father said. “She is so beautiful. … Every person can call her Kaima, but she’ll always be daddy’s Pearl.”
Adanma, an attorney, said, “I’m so happy. I feel like I want to have all my babies on the first of January.”
