A 13-year-old boy, Noah Oyekanmi, has gone missing after he went to urinate in the Isheri, Olowora area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Noah was brought from the Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State to Lagos on January 11, but went missing the following day at about 2pm.
It was gathered that the boy had been brought to stay with his elder brothers – Winner and David – on Adebo Ademehin Street in Olowora, Lagos.
The matter was said to have been reported at the Isheri Police Division.
Our correspondent learnt that Noah had told other children in their apartment that he was going to urinate outside.
However, after some minutes, and the children did not see Noah they alerted the adults in the house.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, the brother, Winner, who is a student of a polytechnic in Edo State, said the family had searched for the boy without success, adding that Noah was the last child of the family.
He said, “We stay in the Isheri Olowora area. I was the one who brought the boy from home on January 11. He was to stay with us and start schooling. On that day around 2pm, I was sleeping in the sitting room. The television was on, and children were watching and playing.
“Noah told the other children that he was going to urinate outside. It was after some minutes when he did not return that the children raised the alarm. That was how we started to search for him.
“Our house does not have any canal or a well where he could have slipped into. Also, nobody saw anyone taking him away. It has been several weeks now and it is just a mystery to us that Noah disappeared like that.
“After reporting at the police station, we made other efforts to search for him, but he has not been found.”
Our correspondent learnt that the matter had also been reported to the Baale (local ruler) of the area.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, had yet to reply to a text message sent to her phone on the incident.
