Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, Vice-Chancellor, Lagos‎ State University (LASU), Ojo, on Friday said the institution had received over 200 million naira support fund from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

Fagbohun said this in the University’s Official bulletin, obtained on Friday in Lagos. He said that the management ‎of the institution would ensure the fund was used to develop the library.

“The University received support from TETFUND to the tune of ‎ N202, 300,000, the management will ensure the support is put to good use in the development of our library,’’ he said. According to the VC, ‎the library’s central role in the academic community cannot be questioned, as it is the physical manifestation of the core values and activities of life.

Fagbohun said the size of an institutions’ library collection was one of the fundamental indicator of its academic quality. “For our colleagues who are working on research, proposals or manuscript, please keep being resourceful, we have assurances of funding from TETFUND‎.

“This will sing the ‘nunc dimittis’ for unscrupulous colleagues who are in the habit of printing or publishing substandard reading materials and compelling our students to buy,’’ he said. Fagbohun warned such lecturers not to compel students to buy substandard textbooks. According to him, if a book is good, it will sell itself.
