Background

I am a singer signed with X3M Music label.

Music

I started from the church like most singers but I went mainstream when I began singing love songs. I am not torn between both genres. I My close friends have always supported me and told me not to lose my head. I have never been one to pay attention to criticics because my passion for music is all that matters to me.

Challenges

You need to put in a lot of money and a lot of hard work to make it in this industry. Keeping faith and not going against your work ethics, regardless of how tough the times become, is very important. However, it is also definitely not easy to urge yourself on when your bank account is in red. I was and still am absolutely obsessed with music and this has helped me achieve a lot. There’s so much more ground to conquer and many more feats to achieve.

Music industry

It’s brutal. There are so many people trying to break into the industry and so many people trying to remain on top. You can’t take a long holiday – not even in your head. It is so amazing how far we have come. There is a lot of room for improvement, but we should never underrate how far we have come.

Role models

I didn’t listen to a lot of music while growing up. But, when I did, I became obsessed with songs by Lauryn Hill and Natasha Beddingfield.

Current projects

I hope to release singles and ultimately, my album this year. The team is working relentlessly, and we hope, by God’s grace, to put out the album sometime this year.

Inspiration

Everything inspires me. I’m very imaginative. I think of the weirdest things. So, when I get an idea, God gives me the words. Sometimes, I write a song and I’m so amazed that I was able to come up with it in the first place. It’s a gift that I’m thankful for. I just paint pictures in my head and sing about them, that way people can see the pictures just as conceived it. It’s a really exciting feeling.

Competition

I have a couple of close friends in the industry and I hope to make more friends. I don’t handle envy and beef because I don’t pay attention to it. I think we let ourselves get carried away by unimportant things. Music is such a beautiful gift and we all need to let it bring us together, rather than tear us apart.

Personality

Sometimes, I feel the songs I sing adjudge me. So far, I’ve put out songs that make me seem as if I’m a difficult person to approach. People have mentioned that I’m probably that way in real life. It’s funny, but I understand why they would think that. I would describe myself as goofy, feisty, shy, positive realist, reserved and high on life.

Marriage

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to find love, which I have by the way. Marriage will happen in its own time. I like a man that can make me laugh and make me happy. A man that can tell me ‘no’ when I need to hear it and one that I can depend on even when I’m at my worst.

Falz Tha Bahd Guy

Falz is my really good friend and nothing more. We get along really well, because he’s a realist. People keep asking us to get married though, so I suppose I’m going to have to marry everyone I record a song with.

Fashion

My style is very non-complex and all about comfort.

Acting

I don’t know if I can act. I’m shy and I laugh a lot, so we’ll see if any director is willing to cast me.

Beauty

I avoid eating too late and I think I have lucky genes. Also, I like to drink a lot of water.

Leisure

I love reading novels and some of my favourite authors are James Patterson, John Grisham, Stephen King and Danielle Steele.
