cult war
Some groups of cultists attacked Owo town, in Ondo state on Friday, March 18, in which they also invaded communities like Ogbonmo, Oke Dogbon and Idaniken, causing  a major chaos among residents.

During the cult war, information had it that, the two rival cult groups, were involved in a fierce gun battle inside the premises of Saint James Primary School, at Oke-Dogbon. As a result of the clash, one Wasiu Jimoh was killed. Reports also had it that, another person named Ojo Lawrence, was killed in the bloody clash.

Likewise, a good number of people sustained various degrees of injury. The deceased, Lawrence, was reported to be a member of the Eiye confraternity cult group. He was alleged to have been killed by a rival cult group at Idaniken area of Owo town.

As the clash got intense, men from the Nigerian police and army, responded swiftly, to bring the situation under control. It was reported recently in Lagos state that, hardly any week passes, without cult gangs unleashing terror on innocent, law-abiding residents of areas such as Bariga, Mushin, Jibowu, Fadeyi, Onipanu, Palmgrove, Yaba, Old Apapa Road, Ilupeju, etc. The cause of the cult war was not really ascertained, however, it was gathered that, a tense war of words between the two cult groups, led to the invasion of the once peaceful town.

While confirming the incident, Mr Femi Joseph, the police public relations officer (PPRO) for Ondo state Police Command, said two suspected cultists have been apprehended in connection with the clash. The names of the two men are Dada Asibi and Isiaka Basiru. He added that, different weapons including two dane guns and double barrel guns, were recovered from them, during their arrest. He concluded that, both men will be arraigned in court soon, as investigation continues.
