Celine Dion broke down in tears as she was honoured with the Billboard Icon Award by her son last night. The singer and Lindsey Stirling performed a stirring rendition of her new track, Queen Cover The Show Must Go On, which earned them both a standing ovation.

At the end of the song, host Seal revealed it was her son Rene Charles who would be presenting the singer with her coveted gong. As Rene Charles walked out, Celine broke down in tears.

“I want to be so strong for my family and my kids and I don't want to cry but you make me so happy - thank you,” she said as he handed over the award.

"I want to thank Lindsey Stirling for sharing her wonderful talent with us tonight. This is such a tremendous honour. Of course music has been my passion before I can remember. So many people have helped me get where I am today. And most importantly my beloved husband who I know will continue to watch over me from above. Thank you Billboard Music Awards for honouring me.
She finished with: "René - this one is for you. The show must go on!”
