Former Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, Kayode Opeifa has put plans together to host the grand finale of the 2nd edition of the Opeifa Lagos Secondary Schools Handball Competition which will hold at Rowe park on the 21st of May.


The grand finale will be used to celebrate the 51st birthday of Mr Opeifa who will turn 51 on May 21.

According to the Lagos State Handball Association, the 1st edition of the championship which featured over 70 schools provided some players who represented Lagos State at the National level.


96 schools in the state have registered for this year's championship. Victorious schools will be rewarded with Handball kits ranging from posts, nets, jerseys and balls.

Opeifa who played basketball for University of Ilorin in his days as a student has stated his desire to get more involved in the sponsorship of handball. Opeifa has sponsored Padfootball and Football championships in the past.
