Davie Hennessey, 51, was due to marry fiancée Elaine Elliot yesterday but was killed at a railway station just hours before they were due to tie the knot.

The devastated 30-year-old paid tribute to the former Mr Scotland on the same day they should have been celebrating their marriage , the Daily Record reports.

Elaine, from Bishopton, Renfrewshire, said: “Davie was literally the most amazing person I have ever known. He’s my best friend, love of my life and soulmate. Don’t know what I’m going to do without him. Today I was going to be his wife. This will always be the case in my heart. I’m completely broken.”

Elaine works as a personal fitness trainer at the Pro-Life Fitness Centre in Paisley, where former British and Scottish body-building champion Davie trained.

The couple had celebrated their impending marriage at the plush Chardon d’Or Restaurant in Glasgow on Wednesday night. But Davie died at Bishopton Railway Station in Renfrewshire shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday.

It is unclear how he ended up on the tracks and a police investigation is being carried out.

Stunned friends of the couple many of whom would have been preparing to celebrate their wedding with them posted messages of support on social media yesterday.

Sara Murray said: “My heart is breaking for you Lainey. I have no words.

“We are all sending you our love and support and it goes without saying we are always there for you xxxx.”

And Andrea McConville wrote: “So very, very sorry for your loss Elaine.
