The Nigerian government has increased the access gate fee for all vehicles entering the airports. In a recent notice by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), over 100% increase in the gate charge will take effect from Thursday, September 1.

FAAN in its notice stated that cars which normally paid N200 to gain access into the airports will now be mandated to pay N400 while buses, jeeps and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) will pay N600 against its former gate fee of N300.

Similarly, trucks will be mandated to pay a charge of N1,000 before gaining access into the airports.

Andrew Bammeke, a Lagos based airport-cab driver reacted by saying: “This is crazy, there is no consideration for the common Nigerian, federal government keeps increasing the cost of everything.”
