A 24 year old Nigerian man named Obinna Ezeoke has been charged with double murder after the shooting of a mother-of-nine Annie Besala Ekofo, 53, and her nephew Bervil Kalikaka-Ekofo, 21.

Annie and Bervil were gunned down at a flat in East Finchley, north London, on 15 September shortly after 6.30am.

Scotland Yard said Ezeoke, of no fixed address, is to appear in custody at Hendon magistrates court in north-west London on Wednesday. Obina Ezeoke is accused of killing Annie and Bervil.

It is feared their deaths were a case of mistaken identity, with detectives saying there has been no evidence to suggest they were the intended targets of the shooting.

Four other people, including a child, were inside the flat in Elmshurst Crescent at the time of the attack but were not harmed.

The Metropolitan police revealed it has also been established that Kalikaka-Ekofo, a psychology student, died from a gunshot wound to the head. His postmortem was carried out at Northwick Park hospital mortuary on Saturday.
