Alhaji Muhammad Yalwaji Sakwa

Alhaji Muhammad Yalwaji Sakwa, the local government caretaker committee chairman of Zaki local government area of Bauchi State, has died.

He died in a car accident in Gadau.

A statement by the Special Assistant Bauchi State governor on Communications, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, stated that the caretaker chairman died in the accident on Saturday alongside his driver.

The statement read in part: "We regret to announce the passing away of the Caretaker Chairman of Zaki Local Government Area, Alhaji Muhammad Yalwaji Sakwa. He was involved in a ghastly motor accident today, and the unfortunate incident claimed both his life and that of his driver. 

"Alhaji Sakwa was known to be honest and hardworking. We pray Almighty Allah give his family and the good people of Zaki LGA the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss," the statement added.

Sakwa was sworn in alongside 19 others few months ago as Caretaker chairmen for the 20 local governments in Bauchi State.

He has since been buried alongside the driver according to Islamic rites.
