Since Donald Trump won the presidential election last week there has been an alarming increase in racist behaviour in America. Many stories have been making rounds online about people's experiences, especially ethnic minorities and Muslims, but there have been doubts about the authenticity of these claims. Well, now we have a verified and authentic first hand experience of one black girl, and it has gone viral.
An African-American Natasha Nkhama was minding her business walking to her class at Baylor University in Texas, when a guy “went out of his way” to bump into her, and shove her off the sidewalk.
According to Natasha, she was shocked and at a loss of words, when another male student came to her defense, asking the guy who pushed her, “Dude what are you doing? That’s not cool.”
Apparently the guy responded saying, “Dude, like what? I’m just trying to make America great again.”
“If you voted for Donald Trump, I hope you understand what that means from someone else’s point of view.” Natasha said in the now viral video.
Baylor University then made a statement saying that they were aware of the incident, and that they were working with Natasha “to ensure she feels safe and supported by the Baylor community.”
Many students then came together to support Natasha, and walk her to class using the hashtag #IWalkWithNatasha–which led to Natasha crying, and thanking everyone for the love she received.
