In a deadly ambush on Monday morning near Chakumi village in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, a 46-year-old man, identified as Tyonongu and his younger brother were attacked and killed by yet to be identified persons with machetes. 

Speaking to a DailyTrust correspondent, a resident of the community who preferred anonymity, said it happened at about 8 o’clock in the morning when the two of them were riding a motorcycle from Dogon-Ruwa to Abaji. 

According to him, the killers laid ambush for the two and first shot at them with guns and when they fell off the motorcycle, they finished them off with machete cuts, adding that the remains of the two deceased were later deposited in the mortuary at Suleja  hospital. 

Also speaking, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, the chairman of the council, confirmed the incident, and expressed shock and sadness over the gruesome killing of the two brothers. 

He urged the family of the deceased to take heart and urged residents of the community to remain calm, peaceful and go about their businesses, saying the council would ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.
