The mental patients as they climbed over the fence and escaped

There is tension in the land after over 100 mental patients escaped from Mathari Psychiatric Hospital in Nairobi after Doctors and Nurses made good their strike threat.

A major operation has been launched along Thika Superhighway for patients who could be seen jumping over the hospital’s perimeter fence, reports Kenyan Post.

In what looks like a scene from a Zombie movie, the mental patients in their uniform are seen in one of the videos taken by on lookers, jumping over the fence of the hospital and sauntered towards the express road.

Doctors and nurses have started a nationwide strike after talks called by the Health ministry collapsed on Sunday evening proved futile.

Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) and Kenya Medical Practitioners and Pharmacists Union (KMPDU) wants the state to implement a collective bargaining agreement made in 2013.
