While most celebrities have failed to benefit from their sex tapes being leaked, Kim Kardashian enlisted the help of porn baron Joe Francis to net her $4.5million when hers was released.

Kim Kardashian became famous thanks to her sex tape with singer Ray J in 2003 but according to a new tell-all book the reality star was more concerned with what the sex tape could offer her than her reputation.

In a new Kim K biography, 'Girls Gone Wild' producer Joe Francis played a vital role in Kim's rise from Paris Hilton assistant to one of the world's most followed star on Instagram.

According to writer, Sean Smith, Kim was initially fearful of the fallout her sex tape withRay J would cause to her being and reputation but she called in her close friend, Joe for advise when rumors of the sex getting released became eminent.
"All she wanted to do was make the tape go away," Smith writes, according to The Sun newspaper. Adding the star believed a lawsuit could do the job. But when it was apparent that wasn't going to be the case, "she turned to her friend Francis."

“It just caught fire,” Smith wrote about the tape, which helped propel Kim — with the guidance of her “Momager” Kris Jenner — to more exposure with their own reality show 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians', which they’ve since parlayed into a multimillion dollar empire that’s made household names out of every member.

While most celebrities have failed to benefit from their sex tapes being leaked, Kim Kardashian enlisted the help of porn baron Joe Francis to net her $4.5million when hers was released. Smith claims Francis, 42, has remained a dear family friend to Kim and her family to this day.
