Buhari kenya trip
President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to be in Kenya today, January, 27. This would be the president’s second international trip for the year 2016.

Here are five major highlights to be noted from this visit.

1. 21-Gun salute

On his arrival at the Eldoret International Airport, President Buhari will be welcomed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to a full State reception including a 21-gun salute.

2. Gallant soldiers memorial

State House itinerary reveals that from the airport, Presidents Buhari and his Kenyan counterpart will proceed to the ninth Kenya Rifles, Moi Barracks, Eldoret where they will be joined by Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud for a special inter-denominational service to celebrate the lives of Kenya’s gallant soldiers who died in Somalia.


3. Special closed door session

On Thursday, January 28, presidents Uhuru and Buhari will hold private talks behind closed doors. hopefully, the specifics of the private chat will be made know to the general public at a latter time.

4. Bilateral meeting

Following just after the one-on-one with President Uhuru, President Buhari will head for a bilateral meeting at the State House in Nairobi. The President’s entourage will include the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Industry, Trade and Investment.

5. Presiding over the Kenya-Nigeria business forum

Just before the conclusion of his visit, President Buhari and President Kenyatta will jointly preside over a Kenya-Nigeria Business Forum in the capital.

At the conclusion of his visit to Kenya on Friday, January 29,  President Buhari will move straight to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the 26th Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government. He will also participate in a meeting of AU’s Peace and Security Council before returning to Abuja on Sunday, January 31.

The president’s visit is expected to strengthen several agreements signed previously and boost business interactions.

Both countries have always had strong relations and the visit by the Nigerian leader will be a means to building on the established grounds, in order to enhance the two nations which are major partners in several sectors.
