The Police in Anambra state have paraded 15 suspects detained on suspicion of cultism, armed robbery and theft. Chigozie Ugwu, aged 22, was arrested for stealing at least 52 women’s underwear and shop burglary, snatching goods valued at N500,000.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ali Okechukwu, expressed his gratitude to the locals for providing useful information that resulted in the arrest of the suspects. Among other paraded are Ugochukwu Nwagu, 21, and Ebuka Amaechi, 18. The duo were arrested during their cult initiation meetup at Nkpo in Idemili North Local Government Area, while other members of of Viking Confraternity managed to escape.
Two cut-to-size double barrel guns and five cartridges were recovered from the suspects. One more criminal, Christopher Onwe, 24, has been arrested at the same local government area, three other gang members were at large. Four unnamed women, including three secondary school students, were also detained and paraded for cult related offences.
