On monday 20 June, 2016. A section of the LAGOS AIRPORT HOTEL on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, was gutted by fire, destroying no fewer than three halls, two rooms and other valuables worth millions of naira.

It was  learnt that the inferno resulted from a surge in the electrical installations at a section of the banquet hall around 5am before it extended to other parts of the HOTEL.

The intervention of officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.

“With the quick response from all emergency agencies, we were able to salvage the situation.

“The fire was serious and property worth millions of naira was destroyed. But no life was lost and nobody was injured,”  an official of LASEMA said
