Growing up, Asisat Oshoala's mother vehemently refused to let her daughter play football.

Fast forward to years later, 2017, she is pictured below proudly showing off her 22 year old daughter's African Women's Footballer of the Year Glo-CAF award.

Asisat shared the photos and captioned it: ''Proud mum''. She was awarded the prestigious African female footballer of the year award by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) last Thursday after winning it the first time in 2014. More photos below.
